Vladimir Penev
Vladimir Penev was born on the 19th of February, 1956 in Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria.
He graduated from the National Academy of Art in Sofia, specializing in painting in the class of Professor Svetlin Roussev in 1981. In the same year he became a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA).
He has participated in almost all joint art exhibitions in Bulgaria, as well as in numerous exhibitions presenting Bulgarian art abroad in Moscow, Vienna, Tokyo, Amsterdam, etc.
He has participated in many international workshops and symposiums.
The National Art Gallery in Bulgaria, most art galleries in the country and a number of private galleries abroad have his paintings as part of their permanent exhibitions.
He works in different areas of painting including figural painting, composition, portrait, nude body, nature morte and landscape.
Dimitar Rashkov
Dimitar Rashkov was born on the 30th of November 1954 in Karlovo. In 1981 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts In Sofia, specializing in Sculpture.
He has taught for four years in the Art College in Kazanlak and has worked for two years in the atelier of the academic Baraday in Kiev. He was head artist of the municipality of Karlovo and curator of the Art Gallery, in which from 1997 to 2004 he was director of public affairs. In 2000 he won a competition organized by the UBA for a creative stay in “Cité des Arts” – Paris, France. He is a member of the UBA and the Society of Artists “Philippopolis” Plovdiv.
The artist has had more than 60 participations in joint exhibitions and over 65 one-man exhibitions in prestigious art galleries in Bulgaria, Austria, The Czech Republic, Germany, France and Greece. Since 1986, each year, Dimitar Rashkov first has an exhibition in his hometown of Karlovo where he displays his newest works and then visits other galleries around the country. Since 1999, the sculpture has regular displays at the exhibition Vinaria at the Plovdiv International Art Fair.
Dimitar Rashkov regularly participates in international competitions, workshops and biennales for sculpture and is the winner of numerous awards.
Dimitar Rashkov is a master of small sculpture. He is among a handful of national artists who look at the world from its fun side. His figures, often with a grotesque roundness are a testament to our sinfulness, that brings not only mental but also physical health. They retain their flexibility and vitality. His figures create an enchanting atmosphere.
