More About Toma Tomov:
Toma Tomov is one of the best Bulgarian television journalists and is also a commentator and observer of international current events. In addition, he is the author of numerous childrens films and is the person behind many interviews with some of the most famous politicians, authors and artists of our time.
Tomov graduated from Sofia University having studied journalism, after which he was an intern for the great American journalist, Walter Cronkite, and at the BBC.
Editor of the Bulgarian National Television news, host of the popular shows Panorama and The World in Action and a travelling correspondent, Tomov has seen the length and breadth of the USA, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the USSR before its fall. He filmed the fall of the Berlin Wall. Together with his partner, Dimitar Ivanov, their show The Observer’ was recognised as the best TV show in 1990.
Between 2001 and 2002, he was the director and host of the show The Observer’ on Nova television in Bulgaria. He was also editor-in-chief of the newspaper Standard between 2005-2006. Amongst the interlocutors of Toma Tomov are Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon, Henry Kissinger, Edward Kennedy, Marlon Brando, Ray Bradbury, Jack Nicholson, the astronauts Stafford and Mitchell, Fidel Castro, the sculptor Henry Moore, the directors Akira Kurosava and Andrzej Wajda, Mikhail Gorbachev, Helmut Cole, Umberto Eco, Dalai Lama, Ted Turner, Petar Ouvaliev (Pierre Rouve), Tzvetan Todorov, Gena Dimitrova, the artist Christo, Vanga, Kurt Vonnegut, Karl Seguin and Indira Gandhi, about whom Tomov and Rangel Vulchanov created the film India, My Love.
Tomov is also the director and creator of numerous other films, including a documentary film aboard the US aircraft carrier George Washington.
