Five years after the renowned Saatchi Gallery discovered Anna-Maria Nikolova’s talent, the young sorceress of expressionism, will present her bold and striking work for the first time in the heart of London.
Anna-Maria is an expressionist painter known for creating works that convey experiences and events from her own life. She was born in Bulgaria but is living in London and studying Fine Arts, Graphic Design, and Photography at Fine Arts College. Her fine art professors are Suzanne Holtom and Chris Kenny.
She started painting at the age of three and at four already had her art at art exhibits. Early on her journey into painting, Nikolova was discovered as a promising talent by the prominent artist and collector Svetlin Russev, who started personally following and guiding her development. At only eleven years old, Saatchi Gallery picked “La Promenade “and “Le Pere Dobry ” to be displayed as a part of the Saatchi Digital Project.
In June 2017, Anna-Maria had her first individual exhibition that brang together an extraordinary body of work in Sofia and resulted in a feature story in the May 2018 Bulgarian edition of OK! magazine.
And it is hard to imagine that six years earlier in 2012 that a six-year-old Nikolova won a silver medal at the International Children’s Art Exhibition in Japan after only one year of painting in a style that was recognized early on as being color-filled and expressive.
In June 2018, a major solo exhibition opened in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles where the 12-year-old Anna-Maria Nikolova debuted fifty of her brilliantly bold paintings inspired by love, tragedy, and the excitement of Life. Nikolova’s particular style of painting was been winning praise from many around the world, including that of Paula Ustinov, daughter of the late actor Peter Ustinov. She says, “Her sense of composition is brilliant and her choice of colors is amazingly mature. I am extremely impressed!”
In October 2019, she participated with her painting “Woman” in an exhibition in Milan, supporting the campaign for the International Day against the violence of Women.
Since 2019, Anna-Maria has created yearly calendars with twelve paintings she sells for charity purposes. All the money from the sold calendars is donated to “Eyes on Four Paws”- the only organization that teaches and provides service dogs to help blind people.
Her first solo UK exhibition entitled “The Hidden Inside Me” is being held at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute London.
Anna-Maria Nikolova will be available for interviews either prior, during or after the reception. After the 13th, the exhibit will be available for viewing until 30th of October 2022.
