Bulgaria celebrates 170 years since the birth of the Patriarch of Bulgarian literature Ivan Vazov

On the 9^th of July 2020, Bulgaria celebrates 170 years since the birth of the Patriarch of Bulgarian literature Ivan Vazov. He is one of the most famous Bulgarian poets, novelists and playwrights from the Bulgarian Renaissance and the Post-Liberation (from Ottoman Empire rule) epoch.

It is an interesting fact that the novel “Under the Yoke” by Ivan Vazov was published as a book first in English in 1894, and a few months later it was published in Bulgarian.

Bulgaria marked the anniversary of Ivan Vazov’s birth with solemn celebrations throughout the country.
