A Musical Journey Through The Ages
with the Ivanov & Chen Duo

Join the International Virtuosic Clarinet and Piano Duo – Ivanov & Chen Duo, for an introduction of Classical favourites from around the World. In this concert they will perform core repertoire for the clarinet as well as unique arrangements of popular pieces for clarinet and piano by Elgar, Mozart, Schubert, Verdi, Piazzolla and Gershwin among others.
The concert is the preparation of the duo for the Golden Diana Festival 2018 in Yambol, Bulgaria.

Lysianne Chen
Piano
Lysianne is a Taiwanese-French pianist based in London. She has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. Engagements include Southbank Center, Royal Overseas League, Lauderdale House in London, Thatro Nacional Sao Carlos in Lisbon, Teatro Académico Gil Vicente in Coimbra, Rekstensamlingene in Bergen, Theatrodi Fumetto and Institut Luigi Boccherini in Lucca, Opera Comedie in Montpellier. Her recordings have been broadcast on national Radio pt5 in Portugal, and French TV channel 5 and Arte.
In January 2017, Lysianne was invited by the Town Hall of Granville for an artist-in-residency programme in France with two weeks of intense teaching, coaching, and performing programme in several music schools in Normandy, with a sold-out piano recital at the concert hall L’Archipel. Articles related to her work were published in French newspapers and magazines such as La Mache Libre and Ouest France. In February 2017, Lysianne was invited by the Ministery of Education of Singapore to participate to the Music Elective Programme, giving masterclass, conferences and concerts in several elite music schools. Futhermore, Lysianne has performed in numerous festivals, including Aegean International Music Festival in Greece, Wimbledon International Music Festival, the International Piano Festival “The fire and the rose “in Lisbon, Coimbra and Porto, where she was part of a programme of Debussy piano cycle. Lysianne has collaborated with artist Kaho Kojima at the International Piano Festival of Royal Academy of Music,
Lysianne studied piano at the Conservatoire of Caen and Montpellier in France with Christian David and Pascal Jourdan, and later at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Carole Presland, where she obtained a Master Degree in Piano Performance. During her studies, Lysianne had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses with Christopher Elton, Denis Pascal and Yvan Fedele, in Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland and United Kingdom. Lysianne is passionate about chamber music and has worked with various instrumental ensembles. She plays a vast range of repertoire and has maintained a keen interest in tango music and jazz classical music such as Piazzolla, Kapustin or Gershwin. She is also a fervent supporter of the Taiwanese Folk Music.
Since 2017, Lysianne is a regular Classical Guest Entertainer aboard P&O and Fred Olson cruise ships.
In 2018, Lysianne’s first CD production with violinist Anastasios Mavroudis will be released, including works by Bernstein, Adams, Gershwin and Copland, and she is preparation for her second CD with clarinetist Boyan Ivanov, including works by Bizet, Piazzolla, Brahms and Verdi.
Boyan Ivanov
CLARINET
Boyan Ivanov is a versatile and virtuosic clarinettist from Yambol, Bulgaria. Moving to London in 2008, Ivanov has since enjoyed great success as a solo, chamber and orchestral musician – performing in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including: Barbican Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St Martin in the Fields, Cadogan Hall, Kings Place, St John’s Smith Square, St James’s Piccadilly, among many others.
Ivanov was a promising young musician in Bulgaria, his talent was quickly recognised and he was accepted to the Plovdiv Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts, where he studied with Professor Petko Radev, long-time principal clarinetist of Milan‘s La Scala. During Ivanov’s studies at the Academy, he toured extensively throughout Europe and South Korea with several Bulgarian orchestras, as well as won numerous prizes and awards; including the third prize at the 2003 International Competition for French Music Performance. Ivanov also participated in Masterclasses with eminent clarinetists such as Michael Collins (UK), Andrew Marriner (UK), Robert Spring (USA), Charles Neidich (USA), Reiner Wehle (Germany), Nicolas Balderou (France), Hervé Cligniez (France). In 2008 Ivanov graduated with the highest of honours and decided to move to London.
Upon moving to London in 2008/09, Ivanov continued his studies with the Spanish virtuoso Joan Enric Lluna at Trinity College of Music, where he subsequently graduated with the FTCL Recital Diploma in Clarinet. While at Trinity College, Ivanov performed as principal clarinet with the Trinity Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, and was selected to play the clarinet solo in Bernstein’s famous Prelude, Fugue and Riffs with the Trinity Jazz Ensemble at Blackheath Halls. Following his graduation, Ivanov began his postgraduate studies at the renowned Guildhall School for Music and Drama, with Julian Farrell and Nicholas Carpenter. Again, Ivanov was principal clarinet of this prestigious institution’s symphony orchestra and it was during this time that he was awarded the Making Music Philip & Dorothy Green Award for Young Concert Artists, part of which, in 2011, he gave numerous recitals for Music Societies across UK and was invited to perform as soloist with Dulwich and Warwickshire Symphony Orchestras.
Following his studies, Ivanov has enjoyed great success in the professional world. Ivanov is a founding member of the Inspirity Ensemble and the Trinity Trio, where he remains an active solo and chamber player. Since 2012, he has performed as a regular classical guest entertainer aboard Cunard, P&O, Fred Olsen and Saga cruise ships. Ivanov made his debut at Kings Place, performing the UK premiere of the American composer, Deborah Netanel’s piece – “Before” and after collaborated with the world renowned Chilingirian Quartet at the same venue. Ivanov performed at Wigmore Hall, as part of the Chamber Tots Programme. In 2013 he performed Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 2 with King’s College London Chamber Orchestra, and was invited thereafter by Argentinean composer and conductor, Fabricio Brachetta, to perform the premiere of his Clarinet Concerto with the London Arte Chamber Orchestra, in aid of the Stroke Association.
In 2014, Ivanov participated in the “Celebrating Jon Lord” Concert with the Orion Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, beside rock legends Deep Purple. A few months later, Ivanov took part in the “Journey to the Centre of the Earth” UK Tour with Rick Wakeman. In 2015 he appeared as a soloist with the Aldwych Sinfonia, playing Copland’s Clarinet Concerto, unconducted. Boyan made his performing debut in China, with three concerts in Nanning, Wuhan and Lluzhou, as part of the Trinity Trio’s China Tour October 2016 and in 2017 was soloist with the innovative London based immersive classical arts production company, Vox Vanguard, performing Mozart’s masterpiece, Clarinet Concerto in A major. Most recently, Boyan played at the prestigious ceremony of the Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2017 in London as part of the Pan-Armenian Symphony Orchestra, which was broadcast live on the Medici.tv and Classic FM.
In addition to the highlights listed above, Ivanov has a vibrant freelance career, playing regularly with a variety of orchestras, including the Hastings Philharmonic (also Orchestra Manager), Vox Vanguard (also Artist Manager), London Arts Orchestra (also Orchestra Manager), Orion Orchestra, Firebird Orchestra, Orpheus Sinfonia, King’s Chamber Orchestra, Aldwych Sinfonia, Guernsey Sinfonietta, Ensemble OrQuesta, Co-Opera Company and OperaUpClose Orchestras.
