Seminar
The Challenges facing the English and Bulgarian Educational Systems
18th of October, 16.00, in the BCI
Chaired by Professor Slavik Tabakov
Speakers: Zdravka Momcheva and Christopher Buxton
(In the context of the many Bulgarian children now being taught in English schools and attending Bulgarian weekend schools.)
A discussion and celebration of the traditions of Bulgarian Education, offering the opportunity of comparisons with traditions in English education, leading to an outline of common issues facing both systems at a time of increasing economic and ideological pressure.
It is hoped that preliminary contributions by the main speakers, Professor Tabakov, Zdravka Momcheva and Christopher Buxton, will stimulate contributions from educationalists, teachers, parents and pupils who have experienced one or both educational systems.
The aim of the evening is not to claim superiority of one system over the other, but to celebrate traditions and promote debate around the issues currently challenging both educational systems. We hope too, to learn from parents, pupils and teachers.
This event is part of a British Bulgarian Society ongoing initiative to foster closer relations between English and Bulgarian schools, building on contacts made with Bulgarian schools in London. It is supported by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in London.
Great initiative! Do we need to book to attend?
