About the Exhibition:
Discover the ancient History and explore love and life; question the fate of the mortals and search for inner freedom with the Artist Sadiq Toma. Born in Baghdad Sadiq Toma ones left his beloved but troubled homeland and started a new journey in London. Sadiq was an established Graphic Designer, an Animator and Illustrator and an Artist for the Children Programmes in Baghdad TV , and worked for IraqiMuseum as Poster Designer . Sadiq was compelled to leave Baghdad in 1978, and realised the intellectuals are under threat under the theme of united Arab state. Sadiq moved to London and worked as a Graphic Designer for International Arabic Magazines and Newspapers and after ten years of servicing Sadiq finally decided to endeavour his childhood desire and started his paintings Sadiqs works are eclectic, pursuing to understand the sameness of human emotions in all times and places and communicates with the ancient world to convey struggles, labours and the unknown journey Human Beings must determined to take to make things right. I am fascinated by the past and attracted to archaeological discoveries but I am neither an archaeologist nor a teacher. My paintings are homage to my past, to all the love I have lost and the price we all have to pay when human society takes the wrong turn. My paintings are homage to the past, to those who first questioned about life and mortality in the city of Samaria, in the land of Gilgamesh. I intend to search for the art in the archaeological excavation and amalgamate with genres today. I share present with the souls of the past and reminisce the labours of those unknown and yet we are all indebted to. The spirit lies in knowing the best Human can do is keep persevering for the right ways. Explains Sadiq about his forthcoming exhibition. |
