Maria Valcheva Art Studio
Unique hand-made works of porcelain, glass and ceramic.
Maria Valcheva crafts a special edition of individually signed and branded porcelain and glass items for Farenah Concept. The designer works with three different types of porcelain for this particular collection. She uses Bulgarian porcelain for the cups castings. The other type of porcelain is English and intended for handwork only it comes in the form of dough. Relatively costly, the porcelain is heated at high temperature (1240 degrees) and possesses a trait that is highly valued when referring to procelain, namely transperancy. The third type of porcelain with high level of whiteness and transparency is for castings. All of the drawings are hand-made, inscribed directly on the items with special pencils for under-frosting decoration and porcelain ???. This work process is not preferred by many of the porcelain designers due to the relatively higher time it takes to complete a piece as well as the iniability of the artist to make corrections no room for errors. Any item produced in this manner is unique and cannot be duplicated. Colloidal gold is used for over-frosting decoration.
As for the glass works, Maria Vulcheva works with an American type of glass. “Pillows for apples” is a mosaic assembled piece by piece. The chopping of the pieces requires high precision and intensive hours of work before all small pieces can be assembled into the desired mosaic shape.
The exhibition will also launch, for the first time in the UK, the Bulgarian natural cosmetic company “Arb? “.
