FILM SCREENING: “ADVANTAGE”

The Bulgarian Cultural Institute invites you to the film screening of Advantage (1977), the cult Bulgarian feature film by director Georgi Djulgerov and starring the actors Russi Chanev, Plamen Donchev, Maria Statulova and others.
The film will be presented by Associate professor Dimitar Kambourov, professor of Literature Theory, lecturer at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland and translator of the script of “Advantage” from Bulgarian to English.
After the film, you will have the opportunity to discuss Advantage, one of the most emblematic Bulgarian films of the second half of the XX century, with professor Kambourov.
The film has won the following awards: The Silver Bear for Best Director at the 28th Berlin International Film Festival, the Special Award and the award for best cinematography for Radoslav Spassov at the Varna Feature Films Festival, the “Laceno d’Oro” for best director and the award for best female actress for Maria Statulova at the International Film Festival in Avellino, Italy and the awards of the Bulgarian filmmaker’s union for best director and best cinematography.
