Our sons, brothers, husbands, and lovers lay somewhere far from home. They are countless.
Those who fought bravely in two World Wars of the 20th century and all the wars before them will never return. Their families, left without a very last glimpse of the heroes will never say their farewell, and bury them with sorrow and honour.
Yet, some of them face a fortunate destiny. Such is the story of Bulgarian poet Dimcho Debelyanov, who wrote his lifetime masterpiece “To Return To The Father’s House”, which later became recognised as a prelude to his tragic fate.
The movie narrates his story through the efforts of the actress, named Nevena Buyuklieva to bring his mortal remains back to the fatherland. The story is a glaring one, one that encompasses the futility of war and emphasises the pain of oblivion, but also documents the achievements of people worthy of respect.
