Presence <> Absence is a contemporary dance work created by the Bulgarian choreographer Stephanie D. Handjiiska and the Polish composer Michał Kawecki.
The two artists explore the topic of how music provokes creates physical movement through presence and absence.
Music enters as a storm and spreads through the membrane of our ears throughout every inch of our body.
And when it leaves, the body acts as a wave of non-existent sound in space.
Michał Kawecki is a Polish, London based composer pianist and teacher.
In 2020 he graduated with a distinction his Master’s degree in Composition at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, mentored by Malcolm Singer. He is currently continuing his education at the Master’s course in Opera Making & Writing (Composer Pathway) in the Royal Opera House and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
Michał is involved in electronic music and contemporary vocal composition. For the last couple of years, he has been strongly interested in the musical reflection of extreme emotional states and mental diseases.
