BCI London cordially invites you to the Poetry evening by Dimana Ivanova. The Bulgarian poet will present two of her poetry collections ‘Invitation for a father’ (Ergo Publishing, Sofia, 2012) and “Alphabet of the desires” (Scalino Publishing, Sofia, 2016).

Special guest: Dimana Ivanova

Dimana Ivanova was born on the 6th of August 1979 in Varna. She graduated in Slavic philology – with a specialism in Czech language and literature – and French philology from Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski. She is the author of a series of academic articles and literary research papers in Bulgarian and Czech, and since 2011 has been a doctor of comparative literature at Charles University in Prague. She translates Czech, Slovak and French poetry into Bulgarian, as well as Bulgarian poets into Slovak and Czech, and has twice been awarded the prize for young Czech translators in the ‘In the footsteps of Grigor Lenkov’ competition organised by the Czech Centre in Sofia.

Since 2012 till 2017 she has taught French language, art and culture in Malatski, Slovakia. Her poems have been translated into many languages, published in various European print and digital publications, and included in the poetry anthologies of the international poetry festivals Ars Poetica (Slovakia) and Curtea de Argeş Poetry Nights (Romania).

Dimana Ivanova is one of the editors and the author of the preface to the Columbian anthology of Slavic and Latin American poets, Antología para la mariposa (2016). She is the author of two poetry collections: ‘Invitation for a father’ (Ergo Publishing, Sofia, 2012) and “Alphabet of the desires” (Scalino Publishing, Sofia, 2016). Her poems have been translated and published in English, French, Spanish, Czech, Slovak, Russian, Macedonian, Romanian and Arabic languages. At the moment she is working as a self-employed translator and interpreter in London, UK and is the general manager of the G&D Translation and Publishing Agency in London.
