“Time shelter” by Georgi Gospidinov , translated by Angela Rodel, has entered the short list for the international “Booker” prize.
“… An inventive novel with an unexpectedly daring tone to it, but it’s also a masterclass in the absurdities of national identity. So relevant today. Part of the Central and Eastern European tradition that includes Milan Kundera, Dubravka Ugresic and Danilo Kish, this is a re-statement of old questions: the danger of selective memory and how nostalgia can take hold of society and become a comfort zone or be prejudicial to him,” said the jury’s
Gospodinov is the first Bulgarian author nominated for the prestigious international literary award. The shortlist consists only of six books.

We are awaiting impatiently Georgi Gospodinov’s visit, once again, at BCI London this May, in the Eve of 24th of May, one of the brightest Bulgarian holidays – The Day of Bulgarian Alphabet, Bulgarian Enlightenment and Culture. At the suggestion of BCI London proposal, Georgi Gospodinov will be part of European’s Writers Festival “The stories we tell” at British Library on 20th of May. We invite you to join us on Gospodinov’s nobel “Time shelter” on 22nd of May at Blackwell’s bookstore, Oxford.
